About Chinook PCN
Chinook Primary Care Network Ltd (CPCN) is a non-profit, formed in 2005 as a joint venture between Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Physicians in Southwestern Alberta. The main goal of PCNs is to enhance comprehensive primary care services within a geographic area. The Board of Directors of CPCN is the legal authority for the non-profit, responsible for its governance strategic direction.
Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated individuals to serve as volunteer Public Directors on our Board of Directors. In this role, you will help govern the organization by shaping policies and processes, providing oversight of strategic and business plans, and promoting the mission and values of CPCN. Directors serve as fiduciaries, ensuring the organization’s financial and social well-being while representing the interests of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in board, and committee meetings
- Contribute to the development and oversight of the organization’s strategic and business plans
- Ensure compliance with board policies and contribute to policy review processes
- Engage in board growth and development
- Act in a position of trust for the community and represent its interests, ensuring transparency and accountability
Time Commitment:
- Attend board meetings (currently 7 annually, each typically lasting 3 hours)
- Participate in committee meetings as required (time commitment may vary)
- Attend general meetings, including the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Occasional travel may be required with most meetings being held at CPCN Central Office
Term Length:
Directors serve a term of up to three years and may be eligible for reappointment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Governance experience
- Understanding of financial and legal matters
- Previous experience with not-for-profit organizations is an asset
- Experience in business, community service, or non-clinical industries is preferred
Compensation: This is a volunteer position. Reimbursement for reasonable travel and related expenses will be provided, in accordance with organizational policies.
